Buy UK Domain Name

If you are based in the UK and are interested in buying a domain name, whether it be a .com domain name or a .co.uk domain name, (or any of the other TLDs available), read our domain name tips page and domain names page first of all. Each page gives sound advice on registering or buying domain names.

Choosing a Domain Name in the UK

Choosing a domain name is important, and if I were to offer a quick summary, without going into any detail, it would be:

• If you are based in the UK and you have a mainly UK audience, buy a .co.uk domain name, but make sure that you also invest in the .com version of the domain name as well. If both versions of the domain names are not available, choose another name.
• Where possible, buy the non-hyphenated version of the domain names as well as the hyphenated versions. By that I mean, if you are buying buydomains.co.uk, also try to register buy-domains.co.uk (as well as the .com versions).
• Don't copy other peoples names. By that I mean that if someone owns buyukdomainnames.co.uk, don't register buy-uk-domain-names.co.uk.

and finally

• Unless you can find no other domain name to register, don't buy domain names with more than one hyphen, like the buy-uk-domain-names as used in the above point.
