Google Music Search

Google Music Search

Google have been playing with a music search facility since January 2006 and I discovered it by chance the other day, as it’s not very well promoted.

If you want to check it out, follow this link: http://www.google.com/help/features.html#music but don’t bother filling in the search box, as it doesn’t work and simply searches the web! Click on the link that says “More search results for pixies”, which takes you to http://www.google.com/musicsearch?q=pixies. By filling in the search box on that page, you can search the music info.

Google music search facility fairly basic at the moment, offering album images, track listings, links to lyrics, etc. and at is aimed at a mainly American audience. I would say, however, that if they get their act together, which I’m sure Google will do in time, it could eventually become my first stop when looking for music information, rather than Wikipedia.

Google Music search is still worth checking out at the moment, particularly if you are looking for information on a US based artist.
